Pet Shop Boys. „Yes“, sie haben es schon wieder getan. Chris Lowe und Neil Tennant haben schon wieder ein fantastisches Album abgeliefert, haben ihren typischen Pet-Shop-Boys-Sound – der so charakteristisch ist, das man ihn nur genauso nennen kann – gelegentlich mit Johnny-Marr-Gitarren und Owen-Pallett-Streichern aufgehübscht und schwanken wieder zwischen cool-kühl und und wohligwarm-poppig. Aber tolle neue Songs wie „Vulnerable“, „Pandemonium“ oder „The Way It Used To Be“, ändern nichts daran, dass man live auch mit all ihren Alltime-Hits konfrontiert wird. Die hier noch aufzuzählen, wäre schlichtweg müßig. Live kann man sich bei den Pet Shop Boys nicht nur auf große Melodien, sondern auch auf große Shows freuen. Im Intro-Interview diktierten sie Dana Bönisch zu dem Thema ins Mikrofon: „Wir möchten Events schaffen. Nicht bloß Konzerte à la: ‚Hallo Düsseldorf!’.“ Man habe keine Angst davor, eine Live-Show artifiziell und künstlich zu gestalten, wo sich heutzutage jeder auf Teufel komm raus um Authentizität bemühe. Im Falle der Pet Shop Boys hört man so was doch gerne!
